Feedback was that a high-end beach rental needs to have a fireplace.
This was not part of the original plan, so took some juggling to add it to the permit. I went with an attractive unit out of Canada, with a river rock kind of feel.

After a bit of a search with a lot of feedback from neighbors and friends, I decided on a grey natural stone with a bit of the look of Pennsylvania sandstone for the veneer. This seemed to go well with the beach setting, the modern architecture, and my choice of floor tile.
The mantle is a piece of fir my brother-in-law harvested off his woodlot in Bridger Canyon, near Bozeman, Montana.
